The northwest corner of Santa Rosa Junior College is on lockdown Thursday as police and fire personnel undergo live training on how to handle an active shooter emergency on the campus. About 60 people from the Santa Rosa Police and Santa RosaJunior College police departments, as well as members of Petaluma Police and Santa Rosa Fire are participating in a role-playing exercise that extends into at least two buildings on campus. The exercise is meant to simulate how agencies would respond in the case of a real threat on not only the junior college campus, but other school facilities or government buildings. The scenes playing out were created by members of the Santa Rosa Police SWAT team, said Sgt. Mike Tosti. "They come up with the scenarios based on situations that have occurred," he said.
