Alicia Keys has reportedly claimed that 'gangsta rap' was fuelled by the powers-that-be to destroy the black community.
She's quoted as telling Blender magazine recently: "'Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. 'Gangsta rap' didn't exist."
She added that the bicoastal feud between the likes of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G was fuelled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."
"[If the Black Panthers] had the outlets our musicians have today, it'd be global. I have to figure out a way to do it myself."
