An undercover sting operation goes bad and a deadly drama plays out on a busy street in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. It happened around three in the afternoon Thursday in the area of Clearfield and Cedar. Police officials say a suspect was shot and killed by an FBI agent during a joint surveillance operation by Philadelphia Police and the FBI. The FBI says it started out no different from countless other undercover operations to buy guns and drugs and then arrest the bad guys. Four people were in the car and when officers say they observed three of them beating the fourth passenger, a police informant. That's when they moved in. Three of the suspects tried to run. Police say one of them reached toward his waistband and an FBI agent shot the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No gun has been found. The other two suspects were captured. Stunned neighbors say it was like being caught in the middle of a scene from a television cop drama. "That's crazy, there's blood everywhere down there," said one neighbor. "Kids are gonna be shocked for life - their first dead body," said another. |
