The German army suspended two soldiers yesterday as the scandal of its troops stationed in Afghanistan who desecrated a skull widened. The suspensions were announced by Franz Joseph Jung, the defence minister. The men were allegedly pictured in photographs taken in 2003. More pictures emerged, showing a different group of soldiers spelling out words with bones. The newspaper Bild, which published the original pictures, said it had dozens more which would be published today. |
