Monday October 15th, 2012
The 2012 budget year for the federal government ended on September 30, 2012 leaving each and every one of 314,576,911 people in America (as estimated by the Census Bureau on October 14, 2012) in debt for $51,072.54. According to Treasury Department figures, the National Debt on September 30, 2012 was $16,066,241,407,385.89 and on September 30, 2011 it was $14,790,340,328,557.15, indicating an increase in the National Debt of $1,275,901,078,828.74 - or $4,055.98 for every man, woman and child in America. Recent reports in the news cite government estimates of $1.1 trillion for the 2012 deficit, but it is likely that the government and news agencies lack a super computer capable of the advanced arithmetic such as the one I used. It is also possible that the $1,275,901,078,828.74 was rounded down to $1.1 trillion using new political math.
