OKLAHOMA CITY -- Two Tulsa area legislators were the featured speakers for a Tea Party event inside the Oklahoma Capitol on the first day of the legislative session Monday.

Rep. Mike Ritze, R-Broken Arrow, and Sen. Randy Brogdon, R-Owasso, told a crowd of about 75 in the Capitol rotunda to reject national health care reform and support their proposed state constitutional amendment exempting Oklahoma from national health care mandates.

Ritze said President Obama has "bribed a lot of people" in pursuit of universal health care but "forgot to bribe you, the people."

Brogdon, a Republican candidate for governor, said, "Congress should not be wasting its time and your money even discussing national health care policy."

About 13 percent of Oklahomans have no health insurance, a figure well above the national average.
