There's a reason police should have no place in public schools.

From WLKY:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. —A Louisville police officer is arrested after detectives say surveillance cameras caught him punching a teen at school and placing another in a choke-hold.

Hardin was a school resource officer at Olmstead Academy North Middle School.

County Attorney Mike O'Connell says he charged Hardin after watching videos of two incidents, one of which he says shows a student collapsing to the floor, unconscious after Hardin held him suspended in the air.

Surveillance cameras were rolling in the school cafeteria during lunch when detectives say Hardin punched a 13-year-old in the face.

According to court documents, on Jan. 22 Hardin punched a 13-year-old student in face in the cafeteria when he thought the teen had cut in line. Court documents say Hardin then gave the student a uniform violation, and charged him with menacing and resisting arrest, even though he knew there was no probable cause. The student suffered a laceration to the inside of his mouth and swelling to his face. He was treated at Kosair Hospital.

"There's no excuse for that. Not even if he would have been doing something else shouldn't have punched him that is totally ridiculous," said Norwood, her child attends the school.

School surveillance cameras were rolling again on Jan. 27, when according to court records, Hardin placed another 13-year-old in a choke-hold, knocking him unconscious. According to court documents, when the student regained consciousness, Hardin handcuffed him.

Court documents state Hardin instead of getting the student medical help, he kept the student out of class for the remainder of the day, then drove him home. Hardin failed to tell the students’ parents what had occurred.

A doctor later determined the student suffered brain damage.
The officer was suspended without pay while police "investigate."
