Good Samaritan Hands Lost Purse To Cop, Cop Steals Cash Before Returning

When a Good Samaritan stumbled upon a purse left at a café in Buffalo, New York, they chose to do the right thing and try to get the purse returned to its rightful owner. In this case, that was done by handing the purse over to 42-year-old Northwest District Officer Michael R. Missana.

The police did manage to successfully return the purse to its rightful owner, but it was missing something -- $130 in cash which was taken out of the owner's wallet. Police, evidently suspicious over where the cash went missing, interrogated Missana over where the cash went, and he confessed to stealing it.

Missana has been indicted for petit larceny and official misconduct as a result, with the DA seemingly fully intent on pressing charges.

Despite being initially suspended without pay for 30 days, Missana was not fired and is now back on the payroll, likely due to some sort of police officer's "bill of rights," showing again how hard it is to simply fire bad cops.

Missana faces a possible year in prison for the theft, upon conviction he can no doubt finally be fired.
