DUBLIN (KRON) — A BART police officer was fatally shot by a fellow officer Tuesday afternoon during a probation search in the East Bay, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. KRON has confirmed that the officer, Tom Smith, 42, a 20-year veteran of the BART police department, was killed in the incident. “BART has been informed that one of our officers has died from wounds sustained during a shooting earlier today,” BART officials said.
