Bradley Manning Sentenced to 35 Years

Army whistleblower Pfc. Bradley Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Wednesday.

The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) said that convicting Manning under the "archaic" Espionage Act sends "an unmistakable warning to potential whistleblowers and journalists willing to publish their information."

"Something is seriously wrong with our justice system," added Ben Wizner, director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Speech, Privacy & Technology Project, "when a soldier who shared information with the press and public is punished far more harshly than others who tortured prisoners and killed civilians."

Echoing this, the CCR continued:
It is a travesty of justice that Manning, who helped bring to light the criminality of U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, is being punished while the alleged perpetrators of the crimes he exposed are not even investigated. Every aspect of this case sets a dangerous precedent for future prosecutions of whistleblowers who play an essential role in democratic government by telling us the truth about government wrongdoing and we fear for the future of our country in the wake of this case.
Defense lawywer David Coombs is expected to address media at 1:30 EST.

12169 the mainstream media and govt is spending all their time making fun of a guy for being gay, as if that's comparable to murdering several innocent civilians (just because they're in some Arabic country).

if you call yourself a Christian and you don't care about innocent civilians in another country because they're Arabic or Muslim or simply the majority of the country is - well good luck when you finally meet God, it's not going to end well for you. we have infact been sinning because we haven't cared about them, thinking this massive amount of "collateral damage" is okay. if our military had done the same in canada or australia then more americans would be upset about it. WE need to fix our sht.

if you call yourself a Christian - then actually follow Christ. or reap the other result, it is always your free choice, but note this analogy:

what's the difference between a 20yr old supermodel who marries an old ugly billionaire,
and a prostitute?

the prostitute is honest.

and Jesus gives an example right in the Bible of Him having sympathy for and forgiving a prostitute.

don't be a dishonest Christian - that's not being a Christian at all. be, a Christian.
