If Cops Are Heroes...

By Eric Peters

Then how come they're so obsessed with "officer safety"?Sofearful-- and not even of any real danger to their persons? Isn't the very definition of "heroic" an action that requires placing one's own physical safety in jeopardy in order to secure the physical safety of others first?

Why, then, are we constantly urged to admire poltroons who insist thattheirsafetyalwayscomes first? That thepossibilityof a Mere Mundane so much as mussing their uniform justifies the actuality of a physical assault by them as a preventative measure?

20138 Pretty good article. I think (almost positive) it was here, a long while back where I read the list of most dangerous jobs, and working in an all-night convenience store or liquor store was WAY above law enforcement in terms of danger. A number of other professions or jobs were too.
I notice the trend, to the point where it gets ridiculous, tackling old men (who hesitate to follow orders from some young cop with no empathy to get on his knees in gravel for instance), cops that don't believe people in custody that need medicine...cops drawing down on people that are no threat...etc.
It's pretty sick, and that pervading "we have to do this for our safety".
Newest trick, seizing any telephones recording them as "evidence".
Tell me, did they do that to news teams? Zapruder SOLD his film footage of the Kennedy assasination to Life Magazine.
IT's all so out of hand.

6645 Anymore in Amerikkka, it seems that merely BEING a cop or in the military automatically makes one a hero, regardless of whether or not one has actually done anything heroic.
Wanna be a hero? Just go down to your local recruiting office and sign up. That's all it takes.
