Cops Burn Down Another House During Standoff

Chris | InformationLiberation

Burning people's homes down has apparently become the new standard operating procedure for ending standoffs.

Of course, just like with Dorner the police won't admit they burned it down, they just threw a multitude of flammables into the house, then in an unrelated incident it happened to catch fire.

Via the Associated Press:
HOQUIAM, Wash. A 20-hour standoff between police in a Washington coastal town and a man who wounded an officer trying to arrest him on a warrant ended Thursday when the suspect died in a gunbattle with a SWAT team as his house went up in flames.

[...]Throughout the night, police fired tear gas into the house and used some loud distraction devices.

Around 6 a.m., flames were reported at the back of the house and the man came out the front.

'Cause and effect' now ceases to exist.

97104 But it's plausible deniability, which seems to be all we need nowadays:

"No one actually saw that magnesium flare set anything on fire!"

"Yes, we bet the investors would all lose their shirts, but no one really meant anything by that!"

"No, we didn't beat him with a rubber hose! There's no video tape (we lost it)! And he fell down some stairs at least 10 minutes before we arrested him."

"But I told him to properly dispose of that hazardous waste!"

"We didn't mean to bet on worthless mortgages!"

"But *we* didn't roll back the odometer!"

"It was a clerical error that caused us to reject the claim!"

"But it was just an accident: A programmer forgot to check in that line of code!"

"The warranty is perfectly good! You're the one who used the ____ normally!"

Honesty and accountability no longer exist.
