After a high-speed chase through the streets of Collier County, sheriff’s officers punched and used a Taser on a motorcyclist as he lay on the ground begging not to be beaten.
A video from a police cruiser shows 22-year-old Mateo Falconi with his hands in the air as Collier County deputy Robert Lewis III moves toward him with his gun pulled, punches Falconi in the jaw and knocks him to the ground saying, “I’ll kill you mother…er.”
[...]Lewis and Palmer repeatedly punch Falconi as he begs them, “Stop hitting me please.” Lewis continues to beat Falconi telling him to stop resisting. “I’m not,” Falconi said.
[...]Lewis fabricated details in the report, Valdes said, to cover up his violations of the use of force policy. In his report, Lewis said he told Falconi to get on the ground and pushed him in his chest, for example. Valdes said the video evidence contradicts this.
