Do American's Think We Face Tyranny?

This video is a must watch, my favorite is the guy with glasses who says he's "cool with" being spied on by drones because he "ain't doing nothing wrong." He says we're "a little spoiled" because we have "freedoms and liberty," his parents "came from a place where there was no such [freedom]."

Beyond us losing our freedoms being the suggested solution to our being "spoiled," the underlying implication is because we're not all being tortured to death in North Korean prison camps, we're free. Of course, even a prisoner in a North Korean prison camp could spew the same bull, "hey, sure I'm in a camp being tortured, but in other places they shove needles through your fingernails, I am only being beat with a whip and starved to death, therefor I am free."

I love statist logic. - Chris

67183 So many people too afraid to take, or completely incapable of taking a definite stance. Straddling the fence is what's killing people.

80202 People that say things like "I have nothing to hide" lack imagination, or haven't thought it through.
The real question, do you trust any and every person in the government not to abuse their positions? Even just police without the super-duper extra surveillance powers in many cases have shadowed ex girlfriends or boyfriends, terrorized their new mates, etc.
Nobody thinks about the inhibiting power of surveillance, even if you have nothing to hide. Talking with a friend from outside the US on the telephone I feel like I cannot discuss politics even though I'm no rabble rouser, and am a pacifist but I'm against much of current US policy, I know they record all these calls. They don't imagine how much power unlimited surveillance can give. Think of senators, congressmen that have a mistress or a secret, the possibility for blackmail by the government,
The government and army are working towards lockdown, total control. Even a form of time travel (being able to go back in time, follow anyone, all the time...if you piss them off, or fall into the wrong list for whatever reason, they can shine their light on all you have done that is recorded..) not to mention there are so many laws, and vague ones at that, lawyers have said most of us commit several felonies without even knowing (or meaning to) oer the course of a year.

You gotta be an idiot with no idea iof history to believe government without oversight can ever be fair.

173242 I remember tjhe days when criticism of the American government was met with a statement like, "If you don't like it here, move to Russia". As if those were the only two places in the world.
