PALM BAY, Fla. - On a weekend when most Americans were taking time to honor the nation’s veterans with parades, tributes and patriotic displays, Thomas Moore, a 62-year-old Navy veteran found himself facing what was a distasteful display just yards away from his southwest Palm Bay home.

There, hoisted on a neighbor’s flagpole was Old Glory flapping in the morning breeze -- only the display was upside down.

"I don't know why he's doing it, but as a veteran, it's discouraging to see something like that. I'd like to know why," said Moore, who lives along the 1400 block of Hancomb Road in the southwest section of Pam Bay.

Palm Bay police were called about the flag -- which when flown upside down traditionally means a distress call -- but told Moore and his wife little could be done about the neighbors display, according to Local 6 News partner Florida Today.
