Cop Claims Teen Assaulted Him, Video Shows He Assaulted Teen

Chris | InformationLiberation

Prince George's County, Maryland police officer Corporal Donald Taylor, a 13-year-veteran, claimed that after catching up to an aggressive youth who swung at him and began to flee, the youth reached for his gun, at which point he fired his gun at the youth in self defense. Despite this tale, newly released surveillance footage obtained by Fox 5 News shows the officer running up behind the youth, then smashing him in the head with his gun in a surprise attack, which triggered his gun to fire in the process.

The youth, 19-year-old Ryan Dorm, "spent about four months in jail before prosecutors dropped the charges against him," NBC Washington reports. Note, Dorm's lawyer says the police got this video two days after Dorm's arrest, yet they made him rot in jail for four months nonetheless.
"Well, the video contradicts what the officer originally wrote in his charging documents,” said Dorm’s lawyer, Jimmy Bell. “What it shows is that my client didn't lie. They print my client is a criminal. They put his face on television saying he committed these crimes, and he didn't."

Taylor was charged with second-degree assault last month.

Dorm and his lawyer filed a $10 million lawsuit against the police department and Taylor.
Unfortunately, as is the norm in these cases, police will simply rob taxpayers to pay a settlement. As to the cop's punishment, last we heard back in August of this year, he was on "administrative leave" with pay for the past six months. The old saying, "crime doesn't pay," doesn't apply if you're a police officer.

113161 " I long for the day when law abiding citizens need a cop and there are none. I long for the day when people who criticize cops realize that these people have to endure the dregs of humanity every single day. They are constantly lied to and given attitude. They have about as thankless a job as you can imagine. I'd like to see any of you holier than thou ingrates do this job without shooting someone. "

There was a time when policemen didn't have to fire one shot throughout their entire career. Unless your working in a prison, you don't see "dregs" of society everyday. What, you don't work with the public who pays your salary or are you calling them dregs? It's obvious that people like you should not become a cop. You are a danger to yourself and society, who has to sooner or later, pay for your mistakes. Get out of the business please.

98253 Cop who hit the kid needs to go to jail. Fellow officers who helped cover it up need to go to jail. County needs to write a 7 figure check to the kid and take it out of the police pension fund.

7443 While I certainly feel for this kid, the main issue in my opinion is the ease at which people in power never face the consequences they deserve. 6 months leave with no pay, is that a joke? He should be fired, charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon and singly held responsible for the damages not the state. Tax payers lose in all aspects of this. We pay his salary and will pay the damages to the victim.

10889 Did anyone hear the part where he was fleeing a police officer? The cop stopped him and his friend (who had a ski mask on INSIDE the store). Then he walks off, totally ignoring the cop. Police have authority. As members of society we have to respect it, and this guy didn't.

5081 He could have been killed by a ruthless piece of shit with a badge. Fuck the police, as well as their over reaching, and unquestioned powers. I would be happy to see the the officer in question as well as ALL of his superiors removed. This behavior starts at the top, and the information that instances like this will not be tolerated be upheld in a serious manner.

72199 If this kid would have run up on the Cop and pistol whipped the Cop like this he would be in prison for years.Doesn't matter that it was a cop that did this.He was way out of line with his actions. If he thought the kid was a thief all he had to do was ask him to stop and question him.I bet this isn't the first time that cop has done something like this.We see and hear more stories every day now about rouge cops so is it any wonder now that people are wary of LE.

174234 Being a cop is not as hard or dangerous as one would think. Quite the contrary actually. Police dont even make the top 10 most dangerous American jobs list, coming in at #11. The top 4 most jobs are Alaskan Bush pilot, farmer, Alaskan crab fisherman, and a surprise to me was #4, roofing/roofers. These occupations all produce more deaths that piggin matter of fact, we are 8 times more likely to be shot by a cop, than they are by us. Disturbing considering the minute sliver of our total per capita percentages and the small portion or newly established praetorian class makes up.

71171 Maryland totally sucks. Forced vaccinations under threat of jailing parents, speed cams, psychopathic cops etc. We occassionally go with our son's soccer team. They tell you which hotel to stay at etc. Sometimes we have to drive over an hour to the game, passing tons of motels. Meanwhile they force us to stay at these inner city hotels, obviously owned by well connected sleazeballs.
The DC side of the state is totally set up to suck money in from anyone who passes through.
