Leftist Favorite Elizabeth Warren Is A Neocon War Hawk On Iran

Chris | InformationLiberation

I can't say I'm suprised. Leftist favorite Elizabeth "Everything You Have You Owe to the State" Warren is a neocon war hawk when it comes to Iran. Despite all evidence to the contrary, she parrots the neocon propaganda line that Iran is actively pursuing nuclear weapons and only a US interventionist mass murder campaign can save us from imminent destruction.

Via the Huffington Post:
...Elizabeth Warren, a Democratic Senate hopeful in Massachusetts, came under fire for a hawkish statement on Iran that contradicts intelligence assertions by senior U.S. defense officials.

Warren's campaign website features a policy statement declaring that "Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons" and "Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons is unacceptable because a nuclear Iran would be a threat to the United States, our allies, the region, and the world."

The statement continues, "The United States must take the necessary steps to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. I support strong sanctions against Iran and believe that the United States must also continue to take a leadership role in pushing other countries to implement strong sanctions as well. Iran must not have an escape hatch."

Warren's claim that "Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons" is especially notable because it contradicts public statements by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta as well as reported intelligence findings of the U.S. and Israeli governments.

At a February hearing, Panetta told lawmakers, "The intelligence does not show that [Iran officials] have made the decision to proceed with developing a nuclear weapon."

Reuters reported in March, "The United States, European allies and even Israel generally agree on three things about Iran's nuclear program: Tehran does not have a bomb, has not decided to build one, and is probably years away from having a deliverable nuclear warhead."

An activist-blogger who goes by the pseudonym Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy said he questioned Warren about the statement at a public appearance in Somerville, Mass., on Sunday. The blogger wrote:
I asked why her stand is that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons ... Warren said she thinks the data says they are working on nuclear weapons.

I repeated that, no, even the administration says there's no evidence of that.

She said she'd look into it, saying it's important that political statements not ... add fuel to the fire.
Salon's Glenn Greenwald tweeted about the blogger's interview, calling it "constructive."

When reached by The Huffington Post on Tuesday, a representative of the Warren campaign did not immediately provide a comment.
Yes, I'm sure she'll "look into it," you'd think she'd have "looked into it" before advocating for mass murder.

Well, you know, you may think she misspoke all on her own, but actually it took a whole host of people and government programs to enable her to wedge her foot so deeply in her mouth. Government-owned rubber factories somewhere in South America made the soles of those tasty shoes, and they were assembled in child-labor factories in Asia overseen by the government warlords there. The U.S. federal government built the roads the shoes were shipped on to Massachusetts, and the illiterate salespeople at the local mall who sold them to her were educated in public schools ...

9791 Sorry, how to you arrive at "mass murder" from "strong sanctions"?

Posted: Apr 30 2012, 9:37 PM

Well, how did the US sanctions on Iraq lead to mass murder? First 500,000 kids died as a result of the sanctions, then the repeated US invasions of the beat down country killed another million.

Sanctions are the first step towards total war, you can't enforce these terrible blockades without force. To stop consenting parties from trading with each other through force is an act of war.

9791 Wrong, there are plenty of sanction methods, including simply building a coalition that refuses to do business with you. If the majority of large countries get on board, there is no need to block shipping lanes.

As for the half a million lives lost due to malnutrition (allegedly caused by sanctions based on mortality rates in the 80's + 90's) the leaders of the country could have stopped committing atrocities that triggered the sanctions to begin with. It's kind of like claiming that pot smokers in the US are responsible for murders in Mexico.

I love how you think none of that involves violence. Do you even know what a government is? Read this and get back to me:
