Cop Turns Off Video Equipment, Beats 66-Yr-Old Man w/ Dementia

Video recovered despite cop turning it off, cop gets "written reprimand" as punishment

A Melbourne, Florida cop turned off his audio and video equipment before beating a 66-year-old man suffering from dementia "for no apparent reason," WFTV reports.
The officer turned off his video and audio equipment before the beating. The department was able to extract the video from the hard drive, but not the audio.

The only disciplinary record the officer received for the incident was a written reprimand for turning off the recording equipment.

Flowers was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.

"It's ridiculous. Clearly from this video there was no assault on a law enforcement officer. We asked for a speedy trial. We want a jury to see this video," attorney Paul Bross said.
This is how it works in America, the cops beat the hell out of you, then charge you with assaulting them. Good thing they were able to recover the video, there is no way a man with dementia would be trusted over a gang of police officers in court.

Sad nothing has changed, and furthermore I continue to have the same feeling and animosity towards law enforcement officers. Granted, I know that not all of them are bad. As it would be unfair to treat all cops in a disrespectful manner,As a result of scumbags who hide behind the badge.

6929 The police officer clearly assaulted the older gentleman. The police officer should be charged with a felony, and any group of jurors (even in Florida) would be hard pressed to not find the police officer guilty. A hefty fine and jail time are certainly in order.

7229 I actually can see where the cop got the idea that the man had a knife, and how he could feel pressured by the man's nature towards him. he also probably was told that the man had a history of mental illness. all the cop did wrong was that kick in my opinion. he should have subdued the man with less force, but I think that the cop that tazered him in the face was definately more in the wrong.

7143 This cop is a total scumbag. He gives tickets to foreign students at FIT for "failure" to stop at a stop sign. He was a motorcycle cop at the time, and because no dash cam, there was no proof otherwise. I hope the community lines up and takes turns spitting on him.

66194 if you turn of the video it does not record.. it was deleted after the fact and then retrieved from the hard drive.. Who deleted it ? Charge them for tampering with evidence and kick them off the force.
Audio is part of the video you cant have one with out the other in the format they use.. again tampering
