The TSA Looks for Stress: Abolish TSA

When I happened to mention the TSA bus searches in Orlando, some nice folks attempted to correct me. The searches were in Tampa, I was told. Well, folks, they were in both cities. The TSA has also conducted search operations in or near Atlanta, Indianapolis, Boston, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. This is not an exhaustive list. Between January of 2006 and mid-2007, the VIPERS had 84 operations. They intentionally act with stealth and unannounced. They pounce on a place and the people in it. If this isn’t a form of terrorism that shakes up people, frightens them, conditions them into obedience, marginalizes their rights, stresses them, raises their levels of suspicion, while augmenting the future intrusions and powers of these snakes, I don’t know what is.

In 2005, in a pilot effort or beta-testing, the TSA's VIPER teams were active on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor, Los Angeles rail lines, ferries in Washington state, mass transit systems in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Baltimore, and the Washington D.C. subway system.

The TSA trains some of its operatives to spot stress, nervousness, sweating, avoiding eye contact, etc. and to single out persons showing such signs. Who among us may not get nervous in the presence of armed and intimidating goons, dressed for the occasion? I wonder what defiance, wisecracks, telling them where to get off, swearing at them, spitting at them or by them or near them will result in. Is it ok to clear one’s throat? Is it permissible to laugh when these clowns come around?

Abolish TSA.
