Why the Obsession with Capitalism?!

Chris | InformationLiberation

I've been exposed to the works of Lew Rockwell and the Mises Institute for years now, I would always read Lew's site and enjoy it but I had no fundamental understanding of real economics. I thought like most people 'Hey what about the evils of corporations?! Why is the government the only evil, they're run by big business!'

This is of course true, but it is a slight of hand.

The government has a power monopoly on force. The 'state', as they say, is the ultimate settler of all disputes and the final arbiter in all situations. The state is the only organization with the power to jail you if you do not comply with its orders, if you do not pay it it's cut in every single transaction, or if you do not hand over +%30 of your income to it for its protection racket.

The state will soon be forcing you to buy health insurance from a private company at the barrel of a gun. It's true the health insurance companies wrote the legislation, so aren't they the evil ones? Sure they're evil, but who is going to jail you if you resist? Who has the power to enforce their ridiculous edict? Of course it's the state, the state is the source of all evil.

In a private market the companies would have no power over you, no one could force you to do anything, all corporations could do to get you to buy their products is make them better and cheaper and hope you're willing to voluntarily hand over your money to them because you feel your money is worth less than their product. That's their only power. That is how things should be, the corporations in a free market serve their customer's needs and give them whatever they want.

"But what about all the useless crap!" you say? "What about the garbage food full of poisons!?"

Those things are all voluntary. How many people think eating at McDonalds is good for their health? Probably no one, they don't care, they want the crap food and that's their right to have it. The beauty of the capitalist system is that everything is in massive abundance, every need and desire is satisfied ten fold. As Mises said, yes the masses consume lots of crap but that's because in the capitalist system everything is in abundance. In the socialist system there is nothing for anyone.

"For example, is it true that markets dumb down the culture, exalting trashy novels and movies over higher-brow fare? Mises points out that the tastes of the masses will always and everywhere be lower than those educated and cultivated to love higher culture. But, he says, the glory of capitalism is that it brings to every sector what it wants and needs, and more of it than any other system. So, yes, there will be more trash, but also more great work as well. It is a matter of availability: under socialism, nothing is available. Under capitalism, choice seems nearly infinite." - Source

Capitalism is freedom. Capitalism is the free market. Capitalism is the greatest thing to happen to mankind in the thousands or millions of years of our existence. Without capitalism the majority of people on this planet would not exist. There would be mass starvation and everyone would be working like hell just to survive. Bad crop yield one year due to mass freezing? Well, too bad, you're dead. No more trading for goods, no more 'crap' in massive abundance. Nothing.

That is not a free society. That is going back to the stone age. That is what the elite want to bring back through their carbon dictatorship. They too hate 'civilization,' they too want to bring an end to 'money,' 'exploitation' and 'capitalism.' They too despise the abundance of 'crap' and hate the 'free market capitalists' who don't think the world should stop growing and humans should stop breeding.

I don't agree, and I have no shame in saying it proudly. Free market capitalism is the greatest thing to ever happen in the history of the world. Going back to the stone age won't free us from anything. Going forward into a future of free markets and abundance will. That is why our economic progress is the number one enemy of the state. That is why the globalists view overpopulation as the world's biggest threat. They know if we can spread free market capitalism throughout the world their system of exploitation and systematic theft through central banking and statism will be gone forever.

We are at an incredibly important crossroads in the history of humanity. The central banking cartel has been printing so much money to fund their warfare/welfare empire that we are on the brink of hyperinflation and the collapse of our currency. This will make trade extremely difficult and will bring our economy to a screeching halt. People will be likely to believe all manners of nonsense about how 'capitalism is to blame.' Fractional Reserve banking is the opposite of free market capitalism, printing of money creates absolutely no wealth, it only serves to destroy the free economy by misallocating resources which could be used for productive means into the coffers of the government and their cronies. It serves to systematically and yet secretly steal the savings of everyone who holds their wealth in dollars, every dollar they print and spend devalues real capitalist's savings and ensures another major crash will occur once the market finally adjusts.

It is absolutely imperative that people wake up to the fact we do not have a free market capitalist system as things are now, we have crony capitalism, statism, and a private bank and government which is holding the free market hostage. When the system collapses we need to embrace free market capitalism and commodity based currencies instead of bashing capitalism and going under a socialist world empire where the government runs and controls everything.

94196 I like what you say and I think you're on the right track. But I do think you are viewing things in a black-and-white way, when reality isn't so black-and-white. Man has been given the ability to create and bring forth new things, and yes, to alter nature as well - and I believe this is a legitimate use of man's capacities to an extent, although of course it can (and has been) taken too far. It's hard to express the nuances of what I mean....

I'm not really a New Agey person, and definitely not part of the pseudo-Gnostic "the world is an illusion so don't bother to engage in it" mentality. That's not what I meant to imply in my previous comment. The promotion of such belief systems is probably intended to prevent people from actually trying to change things.

Christ and Antichrist are states of consciousness and are independent of ideologies, be they capitalist, utopian, etc.

All in all I think we probably agree more than we disagree. I enjoyed Chris's article and I enjoyed your comments as well. Debate is good!

PS. I'm reading a good book at the moment by Thomas H. Greco, called "The End of Money and the Future of Civilization". Anyone interested in economics, conspiracy, environmental problems, social change & our future should check it out.

2498 It is also mportant to understand that Greenspan, Ayn Rand, and the Objectivists were promoted and pushed to corrupt Libertarian principle with a neo-classical egoist philosophical basis rather than the classical Natural Law philosophical basis.

Daisy: Well, the contrast between right and wrong really is as stark as black and white. Man has the ability to do many things he shouldn't do - or at least that more mature men don't do - for example, man has the ability to remain his whole life in a child-like state of selfishness and want-want-want, and he has the ability to grow up. Man has the ability to to wallow in materialism and excess, and he has the ability to learn moderation and even the undesirable consequences of such an approach. Etc. ad nauseum.

You see, deviant, by its definition, means someone who is unable to live contently in natural environment. In natural terms a deviant is someone who is unhappy with the natural state of things. And if you study history of secret societies, you will learn that it is exactly such deviants who came up with the idea of science for the purpose of re-creating the world better suited to them. They then sold the idea to ordinary people through their control of money and religion.

We were given a psychopathic system by psychopaths thousands if not millions of years ago (there are clear indications to that at least this whole thing goes back hundreds of thousands of years - we are now at the end of an age, which means that there have been previous ages, and perhaps previous cycles of these ages, too). And as long as we are under their system, only truths we'll ever come by are from ourselves and from our fellow men and women - not from anything they promote.

Anon2498: Yes, it's very important to understand what for we are at different times given different ideologies. Like the shift to protestantism and lutherism from pure catholicism after the middle ages.

76179 "It is also mportant to understand that Greenspan, Ayn Rand, and the Objectivists were promoted and pushed to corrupt Libertarian principle with a neo-classical egoist philosophical basis rather than the classical Natural Law philosophical basis."

There's far too much of that egoism/far-right bias in this so-called "truth" movement. "The Market" is a tyranny in its own right.

Egoism and selfishness are to be expected from people who are only reacting, as they've been trained to be ego-syntonic by their culture, to the changes around them - instead of realizing naturally that something is wrong and beginning to study it from different angles, which is what real truth seeking should be about.

This reacting that most people are stuck on, for example the Alex Jones crwod. It's comparable to having grown up in a cage and being used to being fed 5 times a day, and life's been pretty good as with indoctrination you've been taught that any grander ideas one might have regarding life are bullshit anyway, throw in also some ways for people to titillate themselves with and keep them occupied, and most will succumb - and all of a sudden they are fed only twice a day with the quality of the food declining in same ratio. So the prisoners begin to rattle the cage.

Just think of Plato's cave.

Most people don't wake up, they simply react to changing conditions as they're used to a certain amount of comforts and pacifiers provided by the system.

And i'm not sure, with the chemical, electronical, and psychological warfare that they've waged upon people, if most people will ever be capable of waking up.

72196 freedom man: you remind me of this quote from Lincoln:

"He can compress the most words into the smallest idea of any man I know."

Posted: May 28 2010, 1:58 AM

Aaa, it's you again. And with just as much to say as the last time i saw you.

You know how i know you're a provocateur?

Because no ordinary person would visit this place and follow these comments if they didn't have a real interest in doing so, and such people don't behave the way you do.

i acquired a following of two or three people like you in a couple of other forums i've been to, unrelated to this topic. People such as you discourage real discussion always.

And mechanics of what you do in this instance: your comment is simply meant to get people to look at me in a slightly ridiculous light, and through that to discredit what i've said.

People like you never argue, because you have nothing to argue with. But the thing is, of course, that what you do works subconsciously, so i know it's very efficient. People who do not consciously think through what you're saying, are affected by it - and probably that's most of the audience.

i have as of now recognised two such people as yourself in this place - the other one is not Anon.

Who knows, you might even be programs. Shrug.

72196 freedom man: what's with all the whining?

If I really wanted to be efficient, I wouldn't have said anything. You don't need any help making people look at you in a ridiculous light. Your ramblings are enough to discredit yourself.

98200 freedom_man: First off, communism is slavery.
You attribute the minutia of life to some inherent evil in capitalism. You do it in a long winded attempt to fluff your statements, making your assertions difficult to connect to your proofs. This is the same nonsense used by many that would lie to our face but use a book to do it. It's exactly like the Marx Communist Manifesto, you believe but since you don't know why, you repeat the same long winded arguments knowing that few people will attempt to outline the logic. You twist philosophy into a pretzel without creating any value, its drivel and nonsense used to occlude your lack of reason.

The truth is, that this topic is VERY simple. There is simply no need to go all long winded, so I won't. This article by Chris is short, sweet and sums up the truth quite well.

I wrote a lengthy retort to your many false statements and proofs of my own... and in doing so I read so much that I realize that it's a waste of time. You are lost and completely unworthy of debate. sad.

Derogatory remark on you fathers ability to raise a child. Statement bemusing your likely demise, directly or indirectly due to your failed ideology. I hope it's in the news (like communist, Joe Stack). But please! Do NOT take out other people when you go, that's just sh!tty.

98200 One more thing for freedom_man...
You do the same damn thing that you point out at from other posters, you subtlety twist truly SICK ideas to give them a 'high minded air'...
Your statement: "man has the ability to remain his whole life in a child-like state of selfishness and want-want-want, and he has the ability to grow up. Man has the ability to to wallow in materialism and excess, and he has the ability to learn moderation and even the undesirable consequences of such an approach".

You just poop out that hog wash like it has any real meaning, hoping it's blind assumption gives credence to your idea that "people are selfish. and want want want... and truly self actualized human beings are above all that".

Oh hell NO! What you really said was this: "If we could only make people LIKE suffering and LEARN not to ask for more, then we could have a perfect communist universe!"

Or this: "If we could all just SUFFER TOGETHER without complaining so goddamn much. You all complain like children, so what you're starving and you do all the work, grow UP, be like ME!"

Here's another interpretation: "All you small people complain too much, look at a true Communist and see how I live a life a suffering and want but I never utter a peep! I am the glory of the selfless communist, you should all worship me! You're all just sniveling children, you should grow up and SUFFER LIKE ME!"

See, anyone can twist up some nonsense. Your perspective is far more corrupt than even you believe, but you must know, being so introspective and all... You really do believe what you wrote but I think my interpretations of your statement is closer to what's in your mind.

76118 capitalism imitates nature, and work as well, and as predictably as such. there will be winners and loser, feasts and famines, wars and peace. in the end, the final result will be the doctorate of the masses who live within it's course, rather than a byproduct of it. in a capitalist society, if what you're doing doesn't work, you can always try something else.
