The Soviet Story

“The Soviet Story” is a story of an Allied power, which helped the Nazis to fight Jews and which slaughtered its own people on an industrial scale. Assisted by the West, this power triumphed on May 9th, 1945. Its crimes were made taboo, and the complete story of Europe’s most murderous regime has never been told. Until now…

InfoLib Comment: The mass murder committed by the communists has been almost completely erased from modern history. Communism today is commonly portrayed as rebellious, anti-establishment, and 'cool.' This film tells the real story of the communists atrocities and goes deep into their eugenics philosophy which couldn't be more relevant now as the same philosophy has been resurrected through the fake environmentalist movement.

"Whatever the price of the Chinese Revolution, it has obviously succeeded not only in producing more efficient and dedicated administration, but also in fostering high morale and community of purpose. The social experiment in China under Chairman Mao's leadership is one of the most important and successful in human history."

--David Rockefeller, statement about Mao Tse-tung in The New York Times, August 10, 1973

The film tells the story of the Soviet regime.

- The Great Famine in Ukraine (1932/33)
- The Katyn massacre (1940)
- The SS-KGB partnership [in the late 1930s the KGB was called NKVD, more info>]
- Soviet mass deportations
- Medical experiments in the GULAG.

These are just a few of the subjects covered in the film.

“The Soviet Story” also discusses the impact of the Soviet legacy on modern day Europe. Listen to experts and European MPs discussing the implications of a selective attitude towards mass murder; and meet a woman describing the burial of her new born son in a GULAG concentration camp.
The Soviet Story is a story of pain, injustice and “realpolitik”.

i noticed the funding behind that production, a company known as the eu, a company which is being run as the russian trilateral.

people are waking up to the cons as the attacks are being seen, felt and for the political agenda they represent from their local state puppets. denial is fracturing breaking down abedience to external authority on which tyranny relies.

925 I accept that terrible things where done in the USSR. Murder and killing did happen. This film does have a propagandistic feel to it. The film would have been more persuasive if it had not been so obvious what its agenda was.

925 I disagree with InfoLibs comment that this is the real story. In fact what we where shown where many horrific images but there was no explanation as to where there pictures where taken and what was being shown. We where expected to associate the images with the narrative. But this is just a propaganda trick. I suppose I would rate what I saw as being as about as authoritative as the Di Vinci code.

Well obviously the film is not perfect and I would have done it differently but much of the information and footage presented in it is in my opinion superb. If you want to see a film free of propaganda watch 'The Age of Transitions' or something of that sort, you can't expect a film of this sort to be propaganda free, you always have to read between the lines.

If I could explain the wrongness of your thinking:

"I suppose I would rate what I saw as being as about as authoritative as the Di Vinci code."

The di vinci commode was a work of complete fantasy, to compare this film which was filled with factual information with propaganda elements mixed in just shows you're not "separating the wheat from the chaff", truth from fiction, you're not using your own mental faculties to their fullest ability.

"The film would have been more persuasive if it had not been so obvious what its agenda was."

You don't explain the agenda and no where do you give any indication you truly understood any of the deeper agendas in the film beyond "horrific images -> narrative -> propaganda trick." There is no deeper understanding of the material presented beyond gross dismissal.

You're not really thinking for yourself or using your own mind, you're not applying yourself to nearly the level which is required to really understand propaganda and conditioning and how it really works.

PS. I'm not really writing this to you, I realize you'll probably object to it, I'm writing it for others who are reading it just to understand the dynamic. I've engaged in the same mental processes as well so it's nothing personal.

925 I think the agenda was pretty clear. The film was more about hating the soviet union than explaining history. It was also about excusing the germans by saying the russians where worst. It did this using a very emotional form of presentation, including dramatic music and chilling commentary. The whole work had very little scholarship in it. This is why I call it propaganda.

The images although horrific where seldom explained. Except for one case we where not told when the footage was taken, who took the footage and what was being shown. Mostly the images could have been taken anywhere. It was left up to us to connect the images with the narrative. Again this is a propaganda trick.

It is because I do think for myself that I don't just swallow whole what I have put before me. And if you could also think for yourself Chris neither should you. It is not enough to accept something Chris just because it conforms to you own prejudice.

Also the claim in the film that stalin refused an anti german pact proposed by the allies is just wrong. By this I mean I have heard this point discussed many times and always it was the allies who refused stalins offer of an anti german pact. So should I now change my mind and dismiss what I have heard many times from the BBC and others because this one film says I should?

The brutality of the soviet regime is not in question. What is in question is the honesty of this film. As before I rate that particular quantity rather low.

Yeah well I wouldn't necessarily dispute any of the points you made, I just viewed the film with a different mental alignment. Personally I enjoyed the archival footage of George Bernard Shaw etc., the parts which were suggestive or speculatory I don't really judge either way.

To put it another way I've heard Alan Watts (not Watt) talk about how the Chinese I believe it was view history more as a story which happened at one point in the past, they don't mark down all the dates or any of the specifics they just tell the story to convey the meaning, I basically do the same in my own mind, not that there is anything wrong with meticulously detailing facts no matter how trivial, certainly it's a wonderful thing, it's just personally I am not inclined to think along those lines.
