A comment that was not meant to be heard and has since been subject to an intense spin effort betrays the true arrogance of so-called "world leaders" and their apologist media mouthpieces. Vladimir Putin's adulation for Israeli President Moshe Katsav's alleged rape of ten women goes right to the root of the nature of unquestioned power.

The BBC reports,

Mr Putin's comment was made at the end of a press conference held by Mr Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Moscow, which focused mainly on the Iran crisis.

As the leaders prepared to leave, the microphone caught Mr Putin saying "greetings to your president".

The microphone then went dead, but journalist Andrei Kolesnikov told the BBC he heard the rest of the comment.

He said the president continued: "What a mighty man he turns out to be! He raped 10 women - I would never have expected this from him. He surprised us all - we all envy him!"

The report goes in to state how all the dignitaries had a hearty chuckle about raping women.

The spin machine has gone into full effect, with most news reports unquestionably towing the line of the Russian government in claiming the entire affair was one big joke.

What kind of people joke about raping women? The kind that have had their conscience so polluted by the elixir of unchecked power that they literally consider themselves above the universal moral laws of man as defined by Moses on Mt. Sinai.

Read Putin's comment again carefully. A mighty man that he envies? This alleged "joke" was loaded with meaning. Pooty Poots, as Bush calls him, is in adulation of Katsav for raping ten women. He defines his counterpart's impressive manhood by the fact that he had the motivation to sexually molest ten victims.

Why the laissez-faire attitude? The most hardened criminals do not show remorse for their actions. Katsav presided over the deliberate targeting and butchery of 1400 Lebanese civilians in 34 days. Putin has put the former Soviet Union to shame in going further than they could ever dream in erecting a police state and using state terror as means of achieving it.

These individuals are war criminals and mass murderers - to them raping ten women is the moral equivalent of you stepping on a bug. So of course they are going to joke about it with each other - it's the idle chatter of despots.

The nagging voice of conscience that resounds within us all when we knowingly do wrong is absent within individuals who have chosen to sell their souls in return for temporary earthly power.
