Fieger: New autopsy suggests cover-up, shows Aiyana shot in head
posted 06/02/2010, 6:26 PM (Detroit Free Press) [Category: Cover-Up/Deceptions]
Armed with diagrams and his own autopsy report, attorney Geoffrey Fieger alleged an all-out cover-up by Detroit police in last month's shooting death of 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones.
Fieger released an autopsy by Macomb County Medical Examiner Daniel Spitz, whom Fieger retained, that shows Aiyana was shot through the top of the head, not the neck as previously reported.
On Tuesday, a spokesman for the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Aiyana's death certificate was changed after a conversation with Spitz.
Detroit police officials did not comment Tuesday. But Fieger challenged the officers involved in the May 16 shooting on the city's east side to come forward "and tell the truth."
Fieger said Spitz's report also bolsters his theory that Officer Joseph Weekley shot Aiyana from an open front door, rather than accidentally when he made contact with the girl's grandmother inside, as police said.
David Balash, a retired firearms examiner for the Michigan State Police, was surprised by the findings.
"A bullet entering the top of the head is not something you can miss," he said of the change in the death certificate.
Autopsy could be his attempt to discredit Detroit police probeAiyana's father said he wants only one thing since he can't get his daughter back: "the truth."
Seated next to Fieger, Charles Jones uttered those two words and held up a pair of his daughter's pink-and-black sneakers.
Fieger took the shoes and set them on his conference table in front of the news media: "These were Aiyana's princess gym s... (more) |

The incident sparked public outrage. The dog's owners are threatening a lawsuit.
The Cabarrus County Sheriff has already looked into the shooting incident and determined his deputy acted legally when he shot a pit bull known as "Bella."

Tybee police 'apologetic' for Tasing autistic teen
posted 06/02/2010, 6:26 PM (Savannahn Now) [Category: Tyranny/Police State]
Police on Tybee Island issued a careful apology Monday for wounds an autistic teenager suffered when officers Tased and threw him to the ground outside a bar Friday night.
Yet Police Chief James Price starkly defended those officers' actions, saying the teen, Clifford Grevemberg, appeared intoxicated and police were unaware of his medical condition.
Price also cited the "rowdy, raucous" atmosphere that surrounded the Beach Bum Parade that evening on Tybee.

posted 06/02/2010, 6:25 PM (The Santa Fe New Mexican) [Category: Tyranny/Police State] State police charged a Santa Fe police detective with aggravated drunken driving over the holiday weekend, a spokesman said Tuesday.
Detective James Vigil, 29, was pulled over on N.M. 599 just after 2 a.m. Saturday when a state police officer saw his sport-utility vehicle weaving, Lt. Eric Garcia said. The officer stopped the black Nissan and smelled alcohol when he spoke to Vigil, Garcia said.

SCOTUS Takes Aim at 5th Amendment
posted 06/02/2010, 6:25 PM (Ryan W. McMaken) [Category: Politics/Corruption] The Supreme Court says that one can no longer simply remain silent to avoid incriminating one’s self. Now, one has to actually state that one wishes to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights in order to stop a police interrogation. I have a hard time believing that the police cease an interrogation even if one does state he wishes to invoke his rights, but the new ruling by SCOTUS provides even more legal cover for the p... CA Assembly Bans Open Carry
posted 06/02/2010, 6:25 PM (San Francisco Chronicle) [Category: Tyranny/Police State] SACRAMENTO -- The so-called open-carry movement took a hit Tuesday when the state Assembly approved a bill 45-25 that would forbid anyone from openly carrying an unloaded handgun. It now moves to the Senate.
The measure by Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña, D-San Diego, came in response to advocates who have been toting unloaded pistols in public in an attempt to expand Second Amendment gun rights.
She and other Democrats behind the measure, AB1934, called it a public safe... (more) |
America's Complicity in Evil: Barbarism on the High Seas
posted 06/02/2010, 6:25 PM (Paul Craig Roberts) [Category: Commentary] As I write at 5pm on Monday, May 31, all day has passed since the early morning reports of the Israeli commando attack on the unarmed ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, and there has been no response from President Obama except to say that he needed to learn “all the facts about this morning’s tragic events” and that Israeli prime minister Netanyahu had canceled his plans to meet with him at the White House. Thus has Obama made America complicit once again in Israel’s barbaric war crimes... (more) |

The Real Public Service
posted 06/02/2010, 6:24 PM (Thomas Sowell) [Category: Commentary] Every year about this time, big-government liberals stand up in front of college commencement crowds across the country and urge the graduates to do the noblest thing possible -- become big-government liberals.
That isn't how they phrase it, of course. Commencement speakers express great reverence for "public service," as distinguished from narrow private "greed." There is usually not the slightest sign of embarrassment at this self-serving celebration of the kinds of careers they... (more) |

The Nunavut government does not think the polar bear should be classified as a species of special concern under the federal Species at Risk Act, says territorial Environment Minister Daniel Shewchuk.
Shewchuk said there is no clear evidence to support assigning that status to the polar bear despite recommendations to the contrary by Environment Canada and a federal scientific panel.
"We live in polar bear country," Shewchuk told reporters in Iqaluit on Friday aftern... (more) |
Only morons, cheats and liars still believe in Man-Made Global Warming
posted 06/02/2010, 6:24 PM (James Delingpole) [Category: Commentary] Well of course I would write a headline like that having just spent the last three days in Chicago at the Heartland Institute's 4th International Conference on Climate Change. This is the event the cackling, cloak-wearing, befanged AGW-denying community attends every year to glorify in their own evil. And naturally, in the wake of Climategate, a mood of uproarious triumphalism has prevailed as distinguished skeptical scientists, economists, and policymakers from around the world -- Pat Michaels... World currency unit intended to rival U.S. dollar for supremacy
posted 06/02/2010, 6:24 PM (Financial Post) [Category: Economy] A new currency is intended to challenge the U.S. dollar as the world's foremost reserve currency. The WOCU, short for world currency unit, was actually launched by London-based WDX Organization in September 2009, but only seems to be gaining recognition now. Its value is determined as a derivative of the exchange rates of the world's top 20 currencies, as measured by GDP, in order to reduce the risk associated with exchange rate fluctuations. The new currency is similar to the International Mone... (more)"We'll print more fiat money than you can shake a stick at!" |

Vic Morris thinks it can, with the help of nanotechnology. He is part of a team tweaking foods to trick the body into feeling pleasantly full long after the final mouthful - and without overeating.
