posted 06/14/2009, 7:35 PM (BBC) [Category: Cover-Up/Deceptions]
Between 1953 and 1964 top secret trials were carried out using a chemical concoction of zinc cadmium sulphide to simulate how a cloud would disperse biological agents.
The unsuspecting population in the East of England was sprayed covertly with the poisonous compound at least 76 times.
Mike Kenner is an "Open Government Campaigner" who stumbled across the Norwich and Bedford trials, and whose revelations prompted two Government Inquiries.

posted 06/14/2009, 7:35 PM (Post Gazette) [Category: Tyranny/Police State] A loaded 9mm weapon was confiscated from a sixth-grader at Linton Middle School in Penn Hills today.
And in a second incident, a Penn Hills police officer used a stun gun on a high school student who refused to stop talking on a cell phone and pushed the officer.
At the middle school, a 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found in the swim bag of an 11-year-old girl at the metal detectors this morning.
Penn Hills police Chief Howard Burton said the gun was... (more)InformationLiberation Commentary:
Some serious mental gymnastics in this propaganda piece, they try to weave two completely unrelated stories into one to make it seem somehow justified to have a police officer in a school Taser a student for daring to stop talking on his phone. If you read the article you will notice it has nothing to do with the story of the 6th grader taking a gun to school, they just weave the two together to make it seem related. posted 06/14/2009, 7:35 PM (The Telegraph) [Category: Brave New World] Christina Michalos said the data related to "sensitive, personal and private" medical information of women who had had a "devastating experience".
Withholding data relating to small numbers is common practice because it is argued that merely knowing that fewer than ten people are involved could lead to their identity becoming known.
The Department of Health is attempting to block the release of data showing the numbers of abortions performed after 24 weeks gestat... (more) |

The Herald Sun can reveal Australian Federal Police agents will have to prosecute a new range of climate offences.

Gorbachev: It's time for a second American revolution in the spirit of perestroika
posted 06/14/2009, 7:34 PM (Mikhail Gorbachev) [Category: Geopolitics] Years ago, as the Cold War was coming to an end, I said to my fellow leaders around the globe: the world is on the cusp of great events, and in the face of new challenges all of us will have to change, you as well as we. For the most part, the reaction was polite but sceptical silence.
In recent years, I have often told listeners that I feel Americans need their own change - a perestroika, not like the one in my country, but an American perestroika - and the reaction has been mark... (more) |

Fat people causing climate change, says Sir Jonathan Porritt
posted 06/14/2009, 7:34 PM (The Telegraph) [Category: Politics/Corruption]
Echoing the famous slogan "fat is a feminist issue", Sir Jonathan, Chair of the Sustainable Development Commission, said "fat is a climate change issue".
He pointed out overweight people eat more protein-rich food such as beef or lamb, which is responsible for producing greenhouse gases because of the toxic methane livestock emits. He also said obese people are more likely to use cars rather than walk or cycle, therefore producing more carbon emissions.

The inquiry into home education was ordered by ministers in January to investigate whether home education is used to conceal "child abuse such as neglect, forced marriage, sexual exploitation or domestic servitude".

Why do my son's books tell him all men are useless?
posted 06/14/2009, 7:34 PM (The Daily Mail) [Category: Big Brother/Orwellian]
...As the penny dropped, I looked at all the other books I've been reading to my son. There's The Selfish Crocodile, by Faustin Charles and Michael Terry. It's about a male crocodile who wants everything for himself, thereby ruining the lives of all the other animals in the jungle. And, then, there's Giraffes Can't Dance, in which a giraffe called Gerald tries to dance and looks like a total idiot.
And something else began to strike me as I looked at these stories - the stories I... (more) | |
