The teenage victim of what police believe to be a brutal race hate attack called his parents to say ‘I’m dying, I love you’ as he lay seriously injured in the street. Matthew Hayden was mown down and hit over the head with a golf club in a brutal unprovoked attack. With a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain, the scared 17-year-old called his parents, thinking it could be his last ever phone call. Matthew’s parents, who asked not to be named, have now made an emotional appeal for information and revealed more details about the shocking incident which took place in Rochdale, Greater Manchester in the early hours of Saturday. They have also released photographs of Matthew after the attack. His mum and dad told the Manchester Evening News that after Matthew was hit with the golf club, the driver of the car - a Nissan Micra - tried to run him over a second time.
