President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka praised Oprah's Golden Globes as "empowering" and "inspiring" Monday on Twitter.

"Just saw @Oprah's empowering & inspiring speech at last night's #GoldenGlobes," Ivanka tweeted. "Let's all come together, women & men, & say #TIMESUP! #United."

This is what poor political instincts looks like.

Oprah's speech was a campaign speech and it was absolutely terrible if you actually followed what she was saying instead of sitting slack-jawed and letting her take you for a ride.

She turned the story of Hollywood producers like Harvey Weinstein sexually exploiting women into a story about fighting against white male privilege.

Her ability to obfuscate the issue was remarkable and may indicate she'll be a serious political threat.

Oprah told the BBC in 2013 she believes "generations" of old white people "have to die" in order for there to be racial progress in America.

From The Daily Caller:
In an interview with BBC, Winfrey was asked by Will Gompertz about racism and how it has changed over generations.

She responded by saying that it has “gotten better,” leading Gompertz to ask, “Are you saying problem solved?”

Winfrey responded, “I’m saying problem not solved. I’m saying that, you know, that’s the beauty of a film like ‘The Butler,’ and it’s the beauty of a film like ’12 Years a Slave,’ and it’s the beauty of what we’re seeing on stage with Scottsboro Boys is that it allows people to see where the root of the problem started. It allows people to see, ‘Oh, that’s where it all started, this is how far we’ve come, and now this is how much farther we need to go.'”

She added, “Of course problem is not solved. You know, as long as people can be judged by the color of their skin, problem’s not solved. As long as there are people who still, there’s a whole generation – I say this, you know, I said this, you know, for apartheid South Africa, I said this for my own, you know, community in the south–there are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die.”
Of course, judging white people "by the color of their skin" is just fine. She's obsessed with racial politics, with a particular focus on the supposed evil of whites.

Ivanka must not have gotten the message that Oprah's "Time's Up" screed was supposed to be about her father and his supporters, not Weinstein and the other Hollywood elites Oprah's served her entire life.
