Michael Slager, the North Charleston cop who faces murder charges for shooting a fleeing man in the back, has a history of abusing his badge, as a newly discovered video of an incident from last year highlights.

The video shows Slager tasering Julius Garnett Wilson in August after he was pulled over and ordered to get out of his car for being in a "high crime area".

Slager and his colleagues falsely accused Wilson of having a suspended license. Wilson refused to exit the vehicle, saying he had done nothing wrong.

Slager and another cop then reached into the car to remove Wilson’s seatbelt, and attempt to force him out of the car. This prompted Wilson to reach for his phone, in order to film the incident to protect himself.

The officer pulled a gun on Wilson, and he was jerked out of the vehicle. As the other cops slammed knees into Wilson’s back, Slager yelled "Back up, I'm going to tase," before hitting Wilson with 50,000 volts.

The incident led to another civil rights lawsuit being brought against Slager, and the abuse doesn’t end there.

Earlier in the week, another man came forward saying that he had been assaulted and tased by Slager in 2013 for no reason.

Mario Givens told reporters that he was awoken in the middle of the night by Slager banging on his door and yelling "Come outside, or I'll tase you!"

"I didn't want that to happen to me, so I raised my arms over my head, and when I did, he tased me in my stomach anyway," Givens told the Associated Press. "They never told me how they reached the conclusion. Never. They never contacted anyone from that night. No one from the neighborhood."

Speaking of Walter Scott, Givens, stated, "What came to my mind is if they had tried to listen to me, that man might have been alive, because he (Slager) wouldn't have been an officer in the field."

Multiple other victims have come forward since the Walter Scott case, alleging that the North Charleston Police Department is endemically violent and abusive.

In yet another lawsuit, a man named Sheldon Williams described how he was sleeping at a motel in North Charleston in late 2011, when five officers burst through the door, handcuffed him, and began taking turns literally stomping on his face.

Williams was hospitalized with a fractured cheekbone, a depressed fracture to the left orbital floor of his face, and a fracture on his left sinus wall. However, North Charleston cops ignored doctors’ instructions to have him see a special surgeon, and ensured he was never treated. Williams now suffers faces severe long-term neurological damage. None of the cops involved were punished.

The State reports that "Police in South Carolina have fired their weapons at 209 suspects in the past five years, and a handful of officers have been accused of pulling the trigger illegally -- but none has being convicted." The North Charleston department has been sued 46 times since 2000 in federal court alone.

It has also emerged this week that Walter Scott's Brother was harassed and forced hand over his phone by the North Charleston cops as he attempted to take pictures of the murder scene shortly after the incident occurred.

At that time video of the shooting had not been released by witness Feidin Santana, and officer Slager was still concocting his cover story. Describing the officers on the scene as “cocky,” Anthony Scott asked them "So, are you going to kill me, too, now?".

The abuse in North Charleston is a microcosm of a far bigger problem of police brutality throughout the nation. On a daily basis, stories and videos are pouring in, documenting the huge amount of assaults, beatings and unlawful killings of citizens by thug cops.
