Thank the Troops for Their Service to Islam

Americans are often exhorted to thank the troops who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan for defending our rights and freedoms. Yet, I have never heard anyone thanking the troops for fighting and dying for Islam.

Why not?

Yeah, I know what interventionists are already saying: "Jacob, are you crazy? Our troops don't fight and die for Islam. They're Christian warriors! They're over there defending our rights and freedoms by killing Muslims before they come over here and kill us first."

Oh, really?

Consider this excerpt from the official constitution of Iraq, which brought into existence an official Islamic government thanks to the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq by the troops:
Article 2:

First: Islam is the official religion of the State and it is a fundamental source of legislation:

1. No law that contradicts the established provisions of Islam may be established.

The Iraqi constitution was adopted in 2005. The troops didn't leave Iraq until 2011. That means that for six years, the troops were fighting and dying in Iraq to protect and defend the official Islamic government in Iraq that their invasion in 2003 succeeded in installing into power.

In fact, that's why the troops are now dropping more bombs in Iraq and why they're currently serving as advisors to military officials in the Iraqi government -- to protect and defend the official Islamic regime in Iraq from a hostile takeover by ISIS.

How come American interventionists never thank the troops for that?

It's no different with Afghanistan. Here is an excerpt from the constitution of the regime that the U.S. invasion succeeded in installing in Afghanistan:
Article One

Ch. 1. Art. 1

Afghanistan is an Islamic Republic, independent, unitary and indivisible state.

Article Two

Ch. 1, Art. 2

The religion of the state of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is the sacred religion of Islam.
Don't believe me? Here's a link to Afghanistan's constitution.

At the risk of belaboring the obvious, that means that the troops who have been fighting and dying in Afghanistan -- and who continue to fight and die in Afghanistan -- have been doing so to protect and defend an official Islamic regime in that country, a regime that the U.S. invasion in 2001 succeeded in installing into power.

What befuddles me is that whenever I hear an American interventionist railing against Islam and Muslims, he always remains silent about the fact that the troops are fighting and dying to protect and defend official Islamic regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, regimes that the U.S invasions of both countries succeeded in installing.

Suggestion to American interventionists: Show your gratitude! The next time you see the troops, thank them for fighting and dying for Islam.
