A veteran New Orleans police officer was indicted Thursday on a charge of aggravated rape after a young girl accused him of sexually assaulting her. Michael Thomassie, 39, is accused of raping the girl sometime between Oct. 1, 2003 and Dec. 31, 2005, when the girl was between seven and nine years old, according to the Orleans Parish grand jury indictment. The charge is not related to his conduct as a police officer. The girl was someone in his care, a spokesman for the District Attorney's Office confirmed. Read More |
