Revealed: How taxpayers paid for Justice Department unit to 'support protests after killing of Trayvon Martin'

Documents published online Wednesday by a conservative watchdog group show that the Community Relations Service, an arm of the U.S. Justice Department, spent taxpayer dollars to help organize and implement plans for the initial string of rallies in Sanford, Florida following the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

678 So I finally had time to dig into this, and sure enough, it is a pure hatchet job.

The root document is here: http://www.judicialwatch.org/press-room/press-releases/documents-obtained-by-judicial-watch-detail-role-of-justice-department-in-organizing-trayvon-martin-protests/

There's not a single word in there anywhere that indicates that the DOJ supported the protestors...but there is a ton of innuendo. My favorite is:

"According to the Orlando Sentinel, DOJ employees with the CRS had arranged a 40-mile police escort for the students from Daytona Beach to Sanford."

Notice how carefully it implies that the DOJ arranged the demonstration. It did no such thing: What it did do was arrange for police to shadow the demonstrators for 40 miles, just to make sure no one misbehaved ... on either side. Keeping the peace and respecting First Amendment Rights!

Not sure yet? Well, this is what Orlando Sentinel said that people in Sanford had to say: "City officials, local leaders and residents say these peacekeepers have played a key role in easing tensions during some of the most heated moments after Trayvon's shooting." (http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-04-15/news/os-trayvon-martin-george-zimmerman-justice-departm-20120415_1_federal-workers-racial-tensions-peacekeepers)

Now that sounds like oppressed city leaders and residents forced to allow a demonstration arranged by jack-booted DOJ thugs! Oh wait, no it doesn't, because that wasn't why DOJ was there!

But just add a touch of innuendo and ... you have another conservative hatchet job looking for something to blame on Obama.
