Friend of Suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev Says He Smoked A Lot Of Pot, Never Talked Politics, Would Never "Do Anything Like This" "Unless He's Extremely High On Drugs"

Chris | InformationLiberation

Via The Guardian:

WBZ-Boston just broadcast an interview with friends of the suspect, Dzokhar Tsarnaev, outside UMass Dartmouth, where the suspect was enrolled. The university was evacuated today.

The two friends interviewed by WBZ said they played soccer with the suspect. They said he never discussed politics and was quiet, not usually speaking unless spoken to. He smoked a lot of pot, one friend said, and would not, the friend said, do "anything like this" "unless he's extremely high on drugs."

"He's just not the kind of guy," the friend told WBZ. "He's just not the kind of guy to do this."

The friends also repeatedly said that Dzohkar Tsarnaev is a notoriously bad driver.

7046 Of course! It was all that pot that made him so violent! The mass media needs to get it straight. Either pot makes you violent and barbaric; or, pot makes you stupid and sloth-like. It cannot do both...

24157 actually, while pot "usually" just makes you lethargic - different people have different reactions. in people with mental illness, drug use can bring on delusional thinking and people predisposed to schizophrenia may show symptoms earlier. Combine heavy drug use with the fact that he believed 9-11 was an inside job (delusional), and whatever insane things his brother told him about jihad and the FBI monitoring them (too bad they werent) - and you have a recipe for a 19 yr old going crazy and being susceptible to the insanity of his brother.

May sound sympathetic of him, but I still hope he rots in jail, or gets thedeath penalty if he is unrepentant.

139190 All this data over the Tsarnaev brother's ties to 'Islamist terrorism' is still speculative. I think the friend means that he can not believe that Dzokhar did this. I don't think he's implying that he blew up people because he was high. Also, this case is much different than 9/11.

The fact that Dzokhar is quiet 'americanized' if his friends and twitter page can be believed shows this. But the brother could have influenced him. We still don't know why they did it. Don't assume too much guys. Consider possibilities, but assuming breeds morons. There is still much we don't know about the two brothers.
