New Athens police chief charged with theft of iPad, iPod from evidence room The chief of a small police department has been charged with stealing an iPod and an iPad from the police evidence room.
New Athens Police Chief Dallas W. Hill, 27, of the 2300 block of Baldwin Road, was charged Monday with two counts of official misconduct and one count of theft, all felonies. Capt. Steve Johnson of the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department said Hill took the electronics, which were held as part of a commercial burglary and forgery case, between July 5 and Sept. 19.
