He's one of our state senators but right now, Republican Senator Jim Alesi seems to be dodging the spotlight after dropping a lawsuit against a local couple.

News 10NBC has tried all day to reach Senator Alesi but he has not returned any of our calls.

Monday night, Alesi bowed to pressure from leaders in his own republican party last night and said he would drop a lawsuit he filed against a local builder, and two of his constituents.

Janet and John Hecker told News 10NBC they were overwhelmed by the community's support. Mrs. Hecker said it's "wonderful and amazing."

This is a great story showing the power of the internet. Just ten years ago it's likely this little story would have gotten no mainstream coverage and no one would have ever heard of it, instead this story went mega-viral on Reddit and other news aggregators and shamed this scumbag into backing off.
