Saddam's execution coincides with holy day of forgiveness

Saddam Hussein was executed by hanging early Saturday morning. Few Iraqis will shed any tears for him, or for his half-brother, who was executed a few minutes after him. But the timing could not be worse and the situation more precarious.

Saddam's execution comes as millions of Muslims around the world begin Saturday celebrating Eid al Ahda, or the feast of the sacrifice. This holiday commemorates the time when God told Abraham -- who is also revered by Muslims -- to spare his son Isaac and to slaughter a sheep instead.

The death by hanging sentence on Saddam Hussein, carried out during this period of holy feast in the Muslim world could be seen by millions of Muslims as making a Martyr out of the former Iraqi dictator.

Additionally, this would all be taking place at the same time when several tens of millions of Muslims converge on Saudi Arabia to perform one of the seven pillars of Islam, the sacred pilgrimage -- or the hajj -- to Mecca. The news of Saddam's hanging could stir emotions among the large numbers of worshipers gathered in the Saudi Arabian holy city. It wouldn't take much of a spark to ignite a riot among the millions of pilgrims gathered in Islam's holiest of cities.

It's hard to imagine that the powers that be in Iraq, both Iraqis and Americans failed to take into account the Hajj and the Eid. If they did take the feast of Ahda into consideration and still chose to proceed with the execution, then they are either completely ignorant of local customs and norms, or if they did not consider the potent mixture of the Hajj, the Eid and the sentencing, then they are total fools. And fools can be dangerous.

What follows next would be the beginning of a new and more violent chapter in Iraq's history.

The death of Sadam (if it actually occured) is nothing more than psychological warfare on the masses of ignorant sheep. It provides a false sense of accomplishment. Sadam had nothing to do with 9/11 and had no weapons of mass destruction. The US was simply burrying one of its CIA patsies. Sheep are so easily manipulated.

i am very glad that Sadam was hung because he ws a very rude and ungratful man! And that he is just like the bed people in the movies, like how they say they will surender and that there sorry or whatevery , then the moment you turn your back and say ok we will let you go or put down your gard on them they stab you right in the back and then what, then hes just going to get away with it some more thats way if they keep on messing up a hole buch of times then you can't be a sweetheart anymore you have to be violent back and do what you have to do to keep this country together and alive.!!!!!!

Any manufactured death is a sad occurence, but remember what his faction did to the poor inocent people. His Bath faction were cruel beyond reason. Yes he was a paid CIA puppet like all 2nd class leaders you know the old boy network. So he knew the risks, he was paid and lived very well, and died relativly quickly not like his murdered victims who were tortured to death or poisoned. So people WAKE UP!. if there exist a group of people who have reached what some would call an illuminated status (and I do believe they exist but do not call themselves by that name, nor are they an organized group), they are not the ones to fear.
Those who pretend to be illuminated and call themselves "illuminati" are much more frightening, because they lack the knowledge that would make them morally stable and thus unable to do harm to other people.

remember, light and dark are false distinctions, too. Originally, light was the male aspect of creation, and darkness symbolized the female aspect. In the beginning was only darkness, the darkness of Mother's womb. And Father said, "let there be life" and he penetrated Mother's darkness with his light and brought forth creation. It was the Romans, who recreated Christianity after the death of Jesus, that villified the darkness in order to create in the populace a fear of the eternal creative force that all women share.

Someone from Latin America wrote to me once, asking me to describe what Iraq was like in the 80's , prior to the embargo and the sanctions.
So I wrote back a fairly long email, giving this person details of what Iraq was like.
I touched upon nearly every aspect of Iraqi society. Infrastructure, agriculture, health care, education, women's position, the arts, sports...
I re-read what I wrote several times and thought to myself, goodness, we were really in many aspects a "developed" country. And that, despite a long war with our wonderful neighbor, Iran.

So yes I do miss Saddam. As a matter of fact, I will even go further and state unequivocally that I wished that Saddam was still ruling not only Iraq but the whole of the Arab speaking world. Because I can assure, that if that had happened, you would no longer have something called "occupied" Palestine...Palestine would have been free by now.

But getting back to the "whore" business..."
